New Two Storey Dwelling

Client: Mr Watts

WMA was  commissioned to design a new dwelling to provide a modest contemporary home while, at the same time, reducing a large linear garden into two manageable plots.

The site and planning context called for a high quality, contemporary design which enhanced and complemented its surroundings.

The site location demanded a building that will blend into its context but remain visually attractive. It is important that the new property did not dominate its site and neighbouring buildings but complement them and its surroundings.

The dwelling has been designed as a modern interpretation of the surrounding vernacular, which will enhance the setting of the existing cluster of built form within the urban setting.

A pitched roof with pitch roof lights has been chosen to compliment the adjacent properties and reduced the height of the property. Clean lines, minimal detailing, metal cladding and weathered brickwork combine to create a modern contemporary home.
